These sites may not be the most glamerous or exciting, but we use them regularly because they have qualities that make them very useful to us - a principle that we always apply to our own work.
National Rail Enquiries
You can book and pay for train journeys at many sites, but this is the one that we prefer. That's because it works as we want it to - you can go to the site and enter the details of your journey without having to logon or pre-register, or anything like that. With sites of this nature there is always a conflict of interest between capturing market data and ease of use, but in this instance, we're glad that ease of use has won out.

Streetmap
We're used to using A to Z street maps for city work, and Ordnance Survey for country navigation so we prefer Streetmap because it gives us the information we want, in the format that we're used to seeing it in.

Local.live.com
Google has rightly achieved massive acclaim with it's Google Earth product but here's Microsoft's version, part of its Live.com offering. As well as the maps and road data you would expect, it also has the stunning 'Birds Eye' view - for the areas recently surveyed at least. The main attaction for us is the ability to use the site without having to download and install a client - and keeping things simple and uncomplicated is what we always try to do.
